Solana is a blockchain open source project that is designed to facilitate decentralized apps (DApps) like decentralized finance (DeFi) and the creation/minting of NFTs. The Solana blockchain aims to improve scalability by introducing a proof-of-history (PoH) consensus combined with the underlying proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus. This hybrid consensus model makes it interesting for any users group (from traders to institutional users)
Solana was launched in March 2020. CoinList offered the Solana initial exchange offering (IEO) to investors, making it the most successful listing regarding financial investment returns. The Solana Foundation is located in Geneva, Switzerland.
